Happy Fall! As the leaves change, I have been reflecting on a productive season and am very much looking forward to the next opportunities for community connection as we move toward the end of 2025.
Our recent Fall Sitting in the Nova Scotia Legislature was short- only 8 days. This gave us limited time to address the issues that matter most to Nova Scotians; the issues we hear from community members every day. I was proud to introduce Bills to strengthen private security services and call for a poverty reduction strategy, and to raise questions on several concerns including soaring power rates, protections for renters, and the need for a youth advocate. As the weather cools down and we begin the heating season, it’s important to note that applications are now open for the following programs:
The $400 Heating Assistance Rebate Program can help with eligible home heating costs for Nova Scotians with a net income up to $30,000 (single person households), or $45,000 (families & couples). If you are a renter or homeowner who pays a heating bill, you may be eligible.
The $750 Seniors Care Grant is available to seniors 65 or older who live independently with a household net income of $45,100 or less. It can be used for a variety of expenses like healthcare services, home maintenance, home heating, and transportation.

On Remembrance Day, November 11th, I will be laying a wreath at Fairview’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch 142 (50 Hillcrest St). I encourage everyone who is able to
attend a ceremony or pause at 11am to honour the enormous sacrifices of Canadian service members past and present.
The Annual Fairview Tree Lighting will take place at Freeman’s (3671 Dutch Village Rd), on Sunday, November 16th starting at 6pm. There will be treats, turkey draws, and fun for all- don’t forget to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Fairview Food Pantry Project!
Finally, I am excited to host my first Holiday Open House as your MLA at my office(3845 Joseph Howe Drive Suite 203) November 27th from 2-4pm. All are welcome to come say hello and enjoy some hot drinks and cookies- I hope to see you there!
